Google’s Gemini app is expanding in the UK and across several European countries, including Italy. Users can now type, speak, or even add an image to meet their different needs. This marks a significant step in the development of a true conversational, multimodal, and useful artificial intelligence assistant, as explained by Jules Walter, Group Product Manager of Gemini Experiences.
“This will enable a new experience that offers simple access to Gemini,” he adds, “along with contextual help directly on the screen. Many voice features typically used in Google Assistant will now be available through the Gemini app, such as setting a timer, making calls, and setting reminders, with more to come in the future.”
To access Gemini on Android, users can download the Gemini app or activate the option through Google Assistant. For iOS users, Google is rolling out access to Gemini directly from the Google app in the coming weeks. “We are constantly working to make Gemini available to as many people as possible. By expanding language support and reaching new countries, we ensure that more and more people can enhance their ideas with Gemini,” concludes Google.
