I premi dell’industria discografica americana, colpiti dagli scandali e dal lutto per la morte di Kobe Bryant, hanno premiato artiste come Eilish, Lizzo, Beyoncé e persino Michelle Obama
Non è stata un’atmosfera facile quella in cui si è svolta, la scorsa notte allo Staples Center di Los Angeles, la cerimonia di assegnazione dei Grammy 2020: come se non bastasse la rimozione nelle scorse settimane la rimozione della presidente dell’organizzazione Deborah Dugan (che avrebbe cercato di denunciare molestie sessuali e irregolarità di voto all’interno della Recording Association che assegna i premi), poco prima della diretta è arrivata la notizia della morte di Kobe Bryant. Sono stati molti i tributi al mitico cestista, a partire dall’esibizione iniziale di Lizzo dedicata a lui, alle parole spese più volte dalla conduttrice della serata Alicia Keys che ha anche introdotto una commovente performance a cappella dei Boyz II Men del brano It’s So Hard to Say Goodbay to Yesterday.
Fra le altre performance notevoli della cerimonia si possono menzionare il medley di Ariana Grande, l’intervento dei Bts che sono stati il primo gruppo coreano a esibirsi sul palco dei Grammy e poi uno speciale tributo a Prince che ha coinvolto svariati artisti fra cui Usher, Sheila E e Fka Twigs. Per quanto riguarda i premi, invece, è stata Billie Eilish ha la vera rivelazione di questa edizione, portandosi a casa i premi principali (incisione, album, album pop, canzone e nuova artista dell’anno). L’altra favorita della serata, Lizzo, si è aggiudicata invece tre premi, mentre fra le altre vincitrici ci sono anche Beyoncé per il suo film musicale Homecoming e persino Michelle Obama come miglior audiolibro per la versione audio della sua autobiografia Becoming.
